Book Haul

I'm pretty excited about the books and comics I got last weekend, so I decided to do a mini haul post to share them. And I want you to share with me what your last book purchase/haul was! So comment below. :)

Girl Online: Going Solo is the last book in YouTuber Zoe Sugg's series. I enjoyed the first 2, they're light fluffy fun, so I'm happy to read the last one. I'll be reviewing the whole series when I finish this one and will probably end up giving them all to my sister, since she's actually the one who loves Sugg's videos and got the first book lol.

After reviewing the 2nd Princess Jellyfish omnibus and having read the 3rd this May, I really needed the next volume. And purely aesthetic, the books are so pretty!! They're lovely pastel sherbety colors and will look amazing on my bookshelf when I get them all eventually.

Do you like my lawn gnomes? They're named Gary, Garry, and Steve. :D I only went to the comic book store to pick up my pull list, but I can always guarantee I'll come out with 3 or 4 extra. This time was no exception.

On my pull list were Motor Girl & Shade: The Changing Girl. I've already talked about these here but I highly recommend them both! And Motor Girl is a short one, only 10 issues, if you don't want to get too invested in a long series.

Then I saw this new Jem & The Holograms Annual and had to pick it up. I am just really loving this reboot so much. (Review of 1st 2 volumes here.) This annual is apparently a fanfic type story which sounds really fun. Can't wait to read it.

Brian K Vaughan's Runaways was the first comic series I ever read, as a teenager way back in the 90s. When I found out that one of my very favorite authors, Rainbow Rowell, was going to do a reboot/sequel of it this year, I was beyond excited. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to reread the original series first or not (I only have volume 1 right now) but I know I will love this new take.

And last but not least, we have the newest Baby-Sitters Club graphic novel, Dawn & The Impossible Three. I really loved Raina Telgemeier's take on the first 4 so I'm interested to see what a new artist will do with the upcoming books. The only thing I'm not sure about, is that they seem to be combining Dawn and Mallory's first books, which is a little odd. And they've still skipped Claudia & The Phantom Phone Calls!! But we'll see how it is. And I am still hoping/wishing/begging for them to do the first Super Special! How amazing would that be??

Book Haul: 2017

Do y'all like book haul posts? It doesn't seem like bragging, does it? I always enjoy seeing other people's hauls, it gives me new books to look for and I just like seeing the pictures. So since I haven't done any posts all year, I've got quite a few hauls to share. Although not nearly as many as you would think. It's been a pretty quiet year, book-wise, for me. Mostly due to lack of money lol. So let's get to the pics and if you have any questions on a specific book, please ask!!

I've been really into collecting the classic books lately and getting multiple editions. They're just so pretty!!

I know I've gotten way more graphic novels than this, but I haven't been keeping up with my haul pics that well either. :( I have been getting the monthly single issues of Terry Moore's Motor Girl and Cecil Castellucci's Shade, the Changing Girl and definitely recommend both of those!

On my Kindle (actually my phone app, I hardly use my Kindle anymore), I binge purchased and read twin sisters Krista & Becca Ritchie's Calloway Sisters/Addicted series this spring. I won't say much here, because I do plan on reviewing it later in the month, but I will say it is definitely worth it!

My first haul pic at my new apartment! :) I've got some interesting backgrounds to work with, so excited to use them in future pictures. And that's my hauls for the year so far! See anything you like or have read? Want to share your most recent haul pic? Comment below!

Book Haul: Summer/Fall Edition

There's a lot of pics, so let's just get right to it, shall we? Comment below if you want details on any specific books, I'm going to breeze through them pretty quickly. In July, I hit up the Half Price Books sale, Amazon for a few must-buys, and the local comic book store for some funsies (that I just read this past week on my vacation oops).

In August, I had some more luck at Half Price and of course, had to pick up Harry Potter & The Cursed Child. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to review that one or not. It's kind of unreviewable, if you know what I mean.

September was fairly quiet, with a couple of good finds at HPB, some new comics from Amazon (Jem!!), and a small library haul, in which I accidentally got a book I'd already read and pretty sure I own oops.

October has been big for books so far and it's only the middle of the month! I blame the Half Price Books clearance sale of course and a week of vacation time. :) This is the most I've ever gotten at a HPB sale (also got 3 movies); I found some really great things. Some graphic novels, classics, holiday reads, a few random finds, and a TON of 80/90s children's books. I say this every time, but my sister is so good at helping me find these! She goes thru and looks for Sweet Valley High (only one this time boo) and any with the apple (publisher) on them lol. Then I go thru and look at everything else. There was a LOT of young adult books this time, I think we were there close to two hours. (Did I mention she's semi-patient too?)

My sister also found me these gorgeous vintage children's books, 5 of them total. The covers were falling apart (I don't know how they still had them on even) but it was okay, because the naked books were just as pretty. I am going to use the covers for bookmarks probably and I would love to make a cute little display on my shelf with the books.

I was on vacation last week (hated coming back to work!!) and got out of the house one day (yep, just one lol) to enjoy the sunshine at a botanical garden (and read) and then hole up in bookstores. :D I hit every bookstore that day, but I only bought at my local comic book store. I didn't realize the 6th Saga book was out, so of course I had to pick that up. I had a stack of single issue comics at first, but put a few back since I did find Saga. Excited about the ones I did get though.

I'm going to wrap things up with my Kindle cloud because I realized I haven't been including it regularly in my haul posts. I've gotten 30+ books since my last update in July 2015 oops. I find it really hard to pay for eBooks, so most of these were free or less than $3.00.

Book Haul: Birthdays & Warehouses

I'm going to work really hard at this blogging thing again going forward. Because I do really like doing it. I got my planner out again and that always really helps me. I think I've got most of July scheduled and half of the posts written already, so that's good right? Right! So let's start with a book haul, which is mostly from two different weekend splurges. I tend to by books in spurts usually, not just one or two at a time.

First is from my birthday weekend, which was May 2nd. I got an Amazon gift card, because my family knows me so well, and splurged on a few newer books that I wanted plus some summer fun. I've actually already read all of these (in both pics) and will have some reviews of a few of them up soon. Also that weekend, I went to Half Price Books (Boys of Summer was purchased at Target) and actually found several that I had been wanting for awhile. I just finished A Little Life this week and it pretty much destroyed me.

And second, a few weekends ago was my local library warehouse sale which I always try to go to, if I have money. My sister, the nonreader, went with me and she went thru and pulled all the Sweet Valley High and any 80-90s books that looked interesting, while I went and looked for other books. She's surprisingly good at it too! Afterward, I mentioned that Half Price books was having their big warehouse sale too that day and I hadn't planned on going but my sister said sure why not so we did. :) She found me quite a few SVH plus some Sleepover Friends and I even found my coveted Camp Sunnyside Friends #1 I've been looking for. I also found a couple that were actually on my to-buy list (it's impossible to go there with a list) and even a complete series of summer fun books.
This pic below is just for fun so you can see more of the covers and details. I picked up a graphic novel, Sidekicks, that looked pretty interesting too. And of course some more classics. I even got two new Christmas books. I've become really interested in gathering Christmas stories and anthologies in the last two years. I blame Stephanie Perkins' My True Love Gave to Me. It made me want to read ALL the holiday books.
And finally, I went to Half Price to get my dad a gift card for Father's Day and saw The Disenchantments on a shelf, which I had read from the library and loved, so I bought my own copy of it. That's it for now. Do you have any haul pics? I'd love to see them, so comment below with links and I'll go check them out.

Book Haul-palooza!!

This is what happens when you don't do a book haul post for 6 months...a huge massive post that makes you look like a book hoarder. :) I'm not going to link back every single book, but if you have a question on any, feel free to ask! This is a combination of library books checked out, library book sales, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Half Price Books, cash, credit cards, gift cards, eBooks, graphic novels, classics, young adult, adult, fiction, romance, paperback, hardbound, and everything else in between. (click on any of the pics to make bigger)

Let's start with the big stack! I finished/caught up a couple of series: Cinder, Gone, Lords of the Underworld, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Chew. That's always so satisfying, isn't it? The majority of this stack was young adult contemporary. I got quite a few from my Summer Romance Formula list I'd made awhile back and have already read a couple of them. And then there's the "random" stack: a few impulse buys, a few on my to-buy list (I can't wait to read First Frost, the sequel to Garden Spells! Sarah Addison Allen is one of my favorite authors.) I already read Rose Under Fire (companion to Code Name Verity) and LOVED it. More than the first even.

Next up was a stack from the library and I read and loved each and every one of these, which was so surprising! Mosquitoland lived up to the hype, What I Thought Was True & Open Road Summer were on the verge of being favorites, and I found a new favorite romance author in Lisa Kleypas.

And this is from last weekend's Friends of the Library sale...and what happens when you try to take your picture where your cat likes to sleep lol. I didn't find a whole lot there at first, which was disappointing, but I got a big stack of classics and a few impulse buys all for $8.00 (with the pins below) so I was extremely happy!

My birthday fell on "Free Comic Book Day" this year, so I had to go get some, right?? Unfortunately, I went to Half Price Books, who's selection was severely lacking. But I picked up the updated Baby-Sitters Club graphic novel with a gc, so it was all good. Isn't it cute? Can't wait to read it.

And last but not least, I've gotten around 18 eBooks since January! Most were free, it's really hard for me to pay for an eBook (especially more than $5). I'm reading the 4th book in the King series by Tawdra Kandle (I almost put Kindle lol) right now and enjoying it. Cinema Lumiere by Hattie Holden Edmonds was one that I was very pleasantly surprised by. It really grabbed me.

So there you have it...the ridiculous amount of books I've gotten that should, technically, last me til the end of the year lol. Now it's your turn: what have you bought/gotten recently? Link me to your haul, I want to see it! What should I read next out of all these books? What book can you not believe I DIDN'T get??

Books Book Haul

Alright y'all, I'm back with the second half of my book buying frenzy. (Graphic Novels here) This is a pretty eclectic mix, even for me! And...I forgot about my eBooks, so I'm going to add them in here too. But let's start with the physical books: all but 2 were bought at HPB.

First up is Travels With Charley, to save up for my Summer of Steinbeck part 3. :) I didn't realize this was an autobiography of sorts, so that should be an interesting read! I also (re)bought the first Wayside School book and am reading it right now. I'm going to do a (hopefully) fun different thing for my review of this series soon.

Backward Compatible by Sarah Daltry & Pete Clark was one that I won on Goodreads and I'm super excited to read it! "A YA gamer geek romantic comedy in the vein of Scott Pilgrim and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.  WARNING: There is no sex in this book. Your Kindle or other device will remain at a pleasant room temperature. At no point will your panties drop. Your significant other will be allowed to snore in peace as you read." Sounds fun right? And the authors even signed the inside and a matching bookmark for me! :)

I finally got the 4th Bloodlines book, The Fiery Heart. I am really looking forward to it, the series has really picked up for me and I almost like it more than Vampire Academy right now. I think it all has to do with Adrian, I just love him so much more than Dimitri. (I know, blasphemy!) And last, 2 impulse buys...The Meanest Doll in the World, part of a super cute series by Ann M Martin and my first reviews on my blog! It was in the clearance section, so I had to snatch it up. The Very Picture of You was on my to-buy list, although I don't remember why (don't you hate that?), but it was cheap so I bought it.

And here's my Kindle eBooks I've gotten in the last month or so...all were $3.00 or less!

Haunted by Eileen Maksym -a good Twitter friend asked me to read this and review it for her friend, so I'm ready to be spooked! :)

The Boys of Summer #1 by CJ Duggan -I've been wanting this one since last summer and I think it might fit the Summer Romance Formula, so I will probably save it for hot temps and sunshine in July!

Wives & Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell -after reading North & South, I really wanted to try another of Gaskell's books and this one looked good.

The Moment Before by Suzy Vitello -another Summer Romance? Maybe with a dark twist?

The Girl with the Cat Tattoo by Theresa Weir -I just heard of this book the other day and I can't remember where now, but how cute is that cover?!

Book Haul: Graphic Novels Version

Okay, I've gone a little book buying crazy since my last haul post. That darn tax refund lol. Oh well, I always seem to stock up on lots of books in the spring so this will last me a good ways thru summer at least. Hopefully. This is a mixture of Amazon and Half Price Books and I thought I'd split it up, since there are so many. So today, I'm sharing the graphic novels and in a few days, I'll share the rest of the books!

First up is the sequel to Vampire Academy, Frostbite. This has been on the back burner for a while, but I'm in a graphic novel mood lately (obviously), so I decided to go ahead and get it. I'm excited to see how Adrian is portrayed.

I like to get more than one volume at a time in series that I'm reading, just so it feels like the story progresses some and I'm impatient. So I picked up 3&4 of Chew and Morning Glories. Tony Chu (Chew) is a Cibopathic detective, which means he solves crimes by taking a bite of the dead people. Gross but good so far.

I am super excited about Locke & Key #5 by Joe Hill. This is an amazing series and I highly recommend it! The final arc, #6, just came out last month and the only thing I'm annoyed about is that I didn't start buying these in hardbound, because now I have to wait forever-ever to get the paperback of the last one. I know, I'm so anal about that.

And finally, I happened upon a graphic novel adaptation of Dorian Gray at HPB this weekend. I didn't know there was such a thing, but since that was my classic for February, I figured it was kismet or something. ;) I'm going to try to read it sometime this week probably.

I'm pretty sure you will be seeing more graphic novel hauls from me throughout the year, because I came across this fantastic blog, Comics & Cola, who provided a list of the 20 most anticipated novels for 2014. And I want at least 15 of them! Have you picked up any graphic novels lately? What's on your to-buy list? Anything I absolutely must try? You can click on my "graphic novel" tag below if you need more suggestions! :)
